Lucy Allen, a senior at GCISD Collegiate Academy completed an amazing passion project today designed to inspire young minds. Driven by her love for math and her desire to share that passion with others, Lucy partnered with Mrs. Dugan’s second-grade class to teach a special lesson on double-digit addition with regrouping.
In the lesson, students had to solve a fun math mystery riddle, using their newly-learned math skills. Lucy's creative approach made learning math both engaging and exciting for the young students, blending problem-solving with a bit of detective work. The kids loved the challenge, and Mrs. Dugan praised Lucy for being "very engaging" during the lesson.
By blending creativity with mathematics, Lucy is helping to inspire the next generation of mathematicians, proving that math can be fun, interactive, and rewarding! Let's give a big shoutout to Lucy for sharing her love of math and making a difference in her community!

Today we had our first Principal's Book Club after school for students and families. This month it was geared towards our PreK and Kindergarten students. Our theme was "Where the Wild Things Are." Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wahpekeche read a fiction and non-fiction book while modeling reading strategies for families. Our students then had the opportunity to make a "wild thing" mask. It was a wildly great time!
