Since October, there have been daily sightings recently of the legendary Sasquatch creature at Grapevine Elementary School.
No, the purported creature has not made its way to Grapevine—at least that has been unquestionably discovered.
The daily sightings are connected to the school uniting to read the book The Sasquatch Escape.
“We began [One School One Book] last year as a way to increase the family and school partnership with respect to reading achievement,” GES Principal Nancy Hale said. “The program is designed to build excitement about reading together at home and teach routines that families can continue in the future.”

Families read one chapter each night of the district-approved book and students answer trivia questions from their nightly reading for an opportunity to win a prize during the school’s morning announcements.
To add even a little more fun, the school also has daily Sasquatch sightings—everything from miniature Sasquatch signs posted along the morning carpool lane to activities that teachers incorporate into their literacy block or personalized reading time – all of which are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills – to a staff member dressing up as the folklore creature for the school’s Book Character Parade on October 29.
The school is scheduled to finish reading the book on November 17 and on that day the school will celebrate the completion with a virtual visit by the book’s author, Suzanne Selfors.
