Dear Parents,
Welcome to first grade! I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year on our first grade journey. I can't wait to see where this year will take each of us.
I would like to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised here in Grapevine and am proud to call it my home. I started teaching at Timberline Elementary in 1983 and came to Grapevine Elementary when it opened in 1994. This will be my 40th year to teach in GCISD. I have taught third as well as first grade. My husband, Jacky, and I have been married for 33 years. We have a beautiful daughter, Rachel, that graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. She has been working on her teacher certification for the past two years and has recently accepted a job in Northwest ISD. We are so excited for her! We round out our family with Bojangles, our 9 year old lab mix and Quinn, our 10 year old terrier mix. They keep things exciting at our house all the time!
As a parent I understand many of the feelings you might be having about your child and school. It is a very exciting time, and you will see great growth during your child's first grade year. It always amazes me to look back at the end of the year and share where your child began in August and where he/she ended in May. That is why I love first grade! Please know that I am always here to answer questions and concerns. Know that my door is always open to you. Once again, welcome to first grade. It is going to be a fantastic year!
