Candy Dodd

Candy Dodd

Hi! My name is Candy Dodd and I am so excited to be part of the Kindergarten team here at GES. I am married and have 2 children, Savannah and Cash. They are 11 years apart. Yikes!! Savannah graduated from Belmont University in Nashville in November of 20202.  Cash is a sixth grader at HMS this year. We are a very busy family who are always ready for our next adventure!

What year did you come to GES?
I came to GES in 2012. I worked for the Fort Worth ISD before coming to GCISD in 2011

How long have you worked in education?
I began working  in public education since 2006. Before finishing my education, I worked as a preschool teacher for 13 years. So I have been around kiddos practically my whole life!

Where did you get your degree?
I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 2005.

What is your favorite memory related to school?
I have many good memories from school but one that sticks out is from fifth grade. I was a very shy, quiet student one of those who rarely get noticed because they are so compliant but one who was very creative. She had us doing projects I remember creating a solar powered car, making a mud house, designing a valentine box, and many more. This is a time in school when I was truly noticed. It was I time when I really stood out.

What motivates you to do what you do as a teacher each and every day?
For me it's that "light bulb" moment, when something just clicks and you can see that they truly understand and get it. You know that their life will never be the same because of something that they learned. I also love when they are able to do something that they never thought they would be able to do.
